So last week I headed over to the Habitat ReStore (again), this time I was dropping off a few things and well, I couldn’t NOT go in since I was already there. You never know what you’ll find but I have been wanting to make a project using an old shutter. I wasn’t sure what to do with it but I was lucky enough to find one for $6 and I also picked up a piece of wood for $2. I started brainstorming and came up with an idea to help get my little crafting, sewing and blogging nook in our guest room organized.
I did have to purchase the wood brackets but they were a good buy at around $4 for the pair. This was the perfect project for my still very full can of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint (Provence). No prep required other than a little light dusting with a damp paper towel. Because the wood was a dark color I did use two coats of paint and then put on some clear wax and little light sanding. I am not going to lie, painting and waxing in between the wood slats was time consuming but once it was finished I have to say it was worth the effort!
(As usual I was too anxious to start painting that I forgot to take a few before pics. )
