Fixing Up The Foyer

I am a self-described blog junkie. I stopped counting how many blogs I follow a long time ago, (hint… it’s A LOT) and I love them ALL!  Especially this time of year, I really enjoy all of the end of the year “best of” recaps.

As a newbie blogger of just a few months I don’t have much of a “best of” projects collection yet. So, I thought I would end the year with one of my favorite room updates.  The foyer has really been a work in progress since we moved into our home over a year ago. It’s a big space and we still have a few things planned, but after finding my latest thrift store treasure (a $19 Goodwill mirror) I am finally ready to give you a peek.

All of the decorative items here have been collected over time and were all in another room at some point. I was determined to use what I already had and to make the space functional.  A mirror (to check your hair before you answer the door), a basket (for the kids to dump their shoes), a bench (to put shoes on and take them off) and a chest with drawers (for keys, umbrellas, gloves, etc.).

Source List:

Home Goods: White oval plate, ceramic pitcher, mercury glass knobs, mercury glass vase

Goodwill: Mirror

Ballard Designs: Pillow and lampshade

Target: Lamp base and basket

Kirkland’s: Greenery

Updates to the foyer include:

Adding bead board paneling (painted Sherwin Williams Alabaster), painting walls (Sherwin Williams Ramie), changing knobs and hinges from gold to bronze (purchased at Lowe’s)

And last but not least painting the chest. I will be doing a future post on this so stay tuned…..

So, I may not have a “best of”collection of projects this year, but I can’t wait to share all of the projects I have planned next year!

I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to stop by and check out my blog.  I am so truly grateful for all of your comments, pins and “likes”. You inspire ME everyday!

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year and cheers to an amazing year ahead!

    Lauren,
Your home has inspired me to finally move forward with my decorating!
Thank you for the nudge. I continue to refer to your beautiful pictures for guidance as I pull things from my closets and repurpose my treasures around our home.
I do have some questions I hope you can help me with:
*where did you get the big checked black and white pillow in the living room photo (I read the one in the foyer is from Ballard Designs, is this one also?
*love your kitchen table and chairs – where are they from :) ?
*where did you get the horizontal stripe lamp shade in the living room?
Thanks so much. I have always loved black and cream/white but have never taken the plunge but now have done so with a punch of robin’s egg blue for some interest. Your home is so warm and inviting. Thank you for sharing and creating the confidence in me to do the same!!
