The Endearing Home

Hope your 2014 is off to a great start! I have lots of fun projects to share on the blog in the coming weeks. My goal this year was to finally get all of my half finished projects done! So far I have been making pretty good progress. Stay tuned…room reveals coming soon!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

  1. Just saw your beautiful post at Kim’s….Congrats on your feature! I LOVE your family room…looking forward to more room reveals!

  2. Pat Champagne says:

Lauren, I just viewed your family room at Savvy Southern Style and I am absolutely in love with your decorating. I have seen many beautiful rooms since I started following blogs, but your room is exactly 100% what I love. I just signed up to follow you and can’t wait to see the rest of your home. You have such a talent. Pat
p.s. I have twin girls also, but much older.

  3. I was just introduced to your site at Kim’s this morning. Wow! I LOVE your style. Now I’m inspired to go home and make some changes!!! Love it. Your home is gorgeous!

  4. Hi Lauren, I’m visiting from SSS and I’m in love with your buffalo check curtains as well as so many more things in your home! What a difference those changes made in your family room! I’m a neighbor-I live in South Carolina and I’m happy to meet you!

  5. Hi Jane, Thanks so much for your sweet comment and so happy to meet you too neighbor! We love South Carolina, our girls favorite beach vacations. Have a great weekend : )

  6. I love this room. I love everything about it. I am so ready to redecorate my house. Yes, all of it. haha. You have given me so many ideas! Thank you! And thank you so much for showing where you put the TV. So many times magazines and others don’t show where they put the TV! We have ours over the mantel and I hate it there. I love the checked curtains, all the small details, like the decorations on the coffee table, all the things that make it feel homey. Can’t wait to take a look around your blog and get more ideas! Oh and congrats on the feature! That is exciting!

    • Thanks so much Jayne, it is so exciting to be featured on Kim’s blog today, pinching myself : ) I have to admit I tried to convince my husband to put the TV over the fireplace but he said it was too high and I have to say I love being able to watch TV when I am in the kitchen. Happy Friday!

  7. Hi Lauren, I too just viewed your family room from Kim’s site. I too love you decorating and love the southern charm. I was so excited to see the layout that you did with your couch and tv stand. I have a family room the same off the front foyer and for years have struggled with where to put the tv and the couch. I never thought the tv would look right being on the front wall but seeing yours I am going to give it a try and also move my couch to stairs wall.
I would like to know where you got your checked curtains and also where you got your coffee table for it is so my style. We live on the lake and also share the love of the beach so would like to use some of your ideas to bring the beach into our family room. Thanks again.

    • Hi Vicki, thanks so much for your kind comment! I am so happy to hear you say southern charm, you made me so happy, that is definitely a style I LOVE and have been hoping to add to our home. I will send you an e-mail with details about curtains and table.

  8. Oh my goodness, Laura! I adore your style. I literally could mover right in!!! Just put you on my blogroll! Beautiful!

    • WOW, Thank you so much Yvonne, being on your blog roll is truly an honor! I have been such a fan of your blog for years!!! Your home is gorgeous, love all of your decorating ideas and recipes.

  9. Hi Lauren, I’m popping over from Savvy Southern Style. Your family room/kitchen are gorgeous. The sisal rug totally grounds the space – it’s perfect. I love your checkered drapes – it’s not a fabric I’d gravitate towards but seeing it in your space has changed my mind. I was just saying to my husband last weekend that I’d like to add beadboard to the back of our island and seeing yours convinced me that’s exactly what we need to do. I’m glad Kim introduced you to us and you are definitely on my Must Follow List!

  10. Thank you Marie I am so glad you stopped! Yes, I love how cozy the beadboard has made our home feel, I know you will love it in your kitchen!

  11. Hi, Lauren! I’m visiting from SSS and wanted to tell you that I LOVE your room! The wall color is gorgeous, and I love the black cabinet, the rug, the trays with ‘goodies’ displayed on them…well, just everything looks great! :)

  12. Hi Lauren! I just saw your family room feature at Kim’s and had to stop by and say how much I absolutely love what you’ve done with your room. I so identify with making a major move, like new curtains in a color or pattern, with being a little nerve wracking! I’m working on my living room now and I’m a little lost to say the least!

I also enjoyed looking at your Christmas decor…beautiful. What a great blog. I signed on! :)

  13. Hi Jane, Thanks so much! I actually just put the finishing touches on our living room which I will be sharing soon. It was the most challenging room for me to decorate in the house. I always think of a “formal” living room as being, well, formal. Once I realized that’s not what I wanted and it wasn’t really our style, I started to have fun and it all just came together. Have a great weekend!

  14. Hi Lauren just popped over from Kim’s…LOVE your beautiful home…I’m your newest follower! Stop on by my blog when you have a chance:)

  15. Your room is beautiful! I love the warmth of it.

I found you from Savvy Southern Style. Now I’m off to look around at your other posts!

    Have a great day.

  16. I saw this on Kim’s blog early this morning and I commented on how beautiful this room is and love the Buffalo check curtains! Have a great weekend!

  17. Hi Lauren! I was wondering where you purchased the white stork/egret picture. I loooovvveeee it and would like to try to find one. Thanks!

  18. saw it- adored it- I’m your newest follower.. woooooooooohooooooooo

  19. I love your decorating style. So pretty. Can you tell me where you found the wooden tray/box on your coffee table. It’s just what I have been looking for.

  20. Hi, I am visiting from SSS. Your home is beautifully put together — very well done! I love the way you have used black and white, but softened it with various neutrals as well as the little punch of apple green, one of my favorite colors. I will definitely add you to my reading list. Maybe you can visit me sometime — looking forward to it.

  21. LOVE your family room! I’ve been struggling, trying to decide on window treatments in our family room. Also, we recently purchased a brown leather sofa AND have very similar rugs. After seeing your homey room, I’d love to add the buffalo check curtains to our’s. Would you be willing to share where you purchased them? Thanks for sharing your home!

    • Thanks Roni! Of course I would love to share, I purchased the curtains from Country Curtains, ordered them from the website and have been so happy with them. I can’t get enough of buffalo check, I know you will love it in your room too!

  22. You have amazing style. So crisp and homey at the same time. Saw this post at Savvy Southern Style.

  23. Nancy Block says:

Could you please send me the info on those black check curtains too. Thanks so much. Love your style.

  24. What a fabulous room! Each detail is absolutely stunning! I’m so happy I dropped in to see Kim and lucky to be here! Your decor is so classy and truly perfect!

  25. WOW!! My mom told me about your blog today. LOVE it!! It is what I love. I spent way too long tonight looking at your blog (all the back to the beginning). :) I have a list of things I want to do to my home now, or you are more than welcome to come and redo my house. :)

    • Hi Leanne, Thanks so much for you super sweet comment! I spend so much time looking at blogs too! I would be happy to help you with your home, feel free to send me some pics via e-mail or let me know what plans you had for the room and maybe I could put together a mood board for you. I have been having fun learning how to use an online program.

  26. Lauren your room is always so beautiful! Congrats on your feature!

  27. Anne Boykin says:

Hi Lauren, Thanks for sharing your favorite room over at Kim’s Savvy Southern Style. I LOVE those curtains and your room is gorgeous. I’m a new follower.

  28. Hi Lauren-
Love your family room-absolutely beautiful. I, too, would like to know where you purchased the buffalo check curtains.
    Thanks so much

  29. Your room is lovely, Lauren. I really like the colours and textures. Your painted pieces look great and I love how you mixed white painted and black painted pieces. I also have leather pieces and you mixed them so well with your other textures and fabrics.

  30. Hi Lauren,
I’ve been following you for a few months now and i always come back for sneak peeks into your beautiful home. Everything about it feels so warm and inviting. I am especially intrigued by the book case by the end of the island. I have been looking for something like that for a long time. Can you tell me where you foundit?

  31. Hi Lauren,
I am a new follower of yours, thanks to your guest post on SSS. You are so very talented and I know I will continue to be inspired as you share your ideas/projects with all of us wanna-be design gurus. I am also a North Carolina native (I live near Charlotte) and wondered if you have favorite places (preferably bricks and mortar, but online too) to look for reasonably priced original paintings. I absolutely adore your painting above your TV, and think something similar would work well in my home. I read your posts about Windwood Antiques in Blowing Rock (may take a road trip) and saw your link above for the shop in Mount Pleasant, SC. Do you have any other recommendations for affordable, original art sources in NC (or close by)? Thanks so much!

  32. Hi Beth, so excited to have you as a new follower and thanks so much for your sweet comment! I am a wanna be for sure, but love to share decorating ideas and places to shop. Especially around my new home state which I LOVE and am never moving from, lol! The painting above the TV is actually from Home Goods. I paid $40 for it and I have seen it on several websites for a lot more, I love to get the look for less! Windwood and The Treasured Nest are the only shops I have to recommend so far, but I am always looking for stores like that. I really think you would love Windwood and it is a short drive from Charlotte, they have two stores in Blowing Rock. I have been wanting to go back because I would love to add another painting to our living room and their prices were so good. I will keep an eye out for you and let you know if I find any other stores nearby.

  33. Beautiful home…love the buffalo checks :)

  34. Hi Lauren, I found your blog by searching for images showing the color Ramie (one of my favorite Sherwin Williams colors). We are tackling a dark, paneled, downstairs man-cave. As soon as I spotted your family room, I was hooked. I love everything about it. Also, I’m a Goodwill/Thrift/Consignment store kind of gal, so I really appreciate your restyle/repurpose/reorganize kind of approach. Your style just speaks to me (and apparently to a lot of other people too).
Thanks for opening your beautiful home to us.
    Greenville, SC

  35. I really feel at times I’m stalking your blog!!!!! Your home is my all time favorite, over the top, love everything about it and have plans this spring to incorporate into my own home. Now that I’ve confessed the stalking…i feel much better. :)

  36. Hi Lauren, LOVE LOVE LOVE your home and decor, it is so totally me. What is the paint color in your family room?? Looking forward to the living room reveal!

    • I just want to say thank you so much Beverly for your super sweet comment, you really made my day!!! Your kind words motivated me to finally finish a blog post I had been working on.

Oh and I will admit to stalking a blog or two, or three…there are just so many that I enjoy!

Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday!

  37. Karen higgins says:

I would love to do something like this for my living room. My room may be too narrow. Can you tell me what your room measurements are? Also, have you ever painted furniture? I have a traditional dinning room set in a cherry stain. I would love to paint the legs and chairs a washed white. Have you ever done that?
Love love love your style. I love decorating and rearranging furniture. It drives my husband crazy! ☺️
