I recently ordered several yards of jute webbing for another project, but as usual got sidetracked. Do you do that too? I don’t know why I have so much trouble staying focused. I guess it’s because I tend to put off the projects that are going to take more time. I find so much joy in working on crafts, decorating and painting furniture, but definitely prefer projects that are quick and easy.
And that is just the kind of project I am sharing today!
A few weeks ago I picked up a table runner at Home Goods. I loved the ruffles, price and French grain sack inspired fabric. The only thing I was not crazy about was the trim. I first reached for my box of ribbon to see if I could find something prettier to cover it up and then I thought about the jute webbing.
As soon I put the two together it was love at first sight! They just go so perfectly together, but I think jute webbing which comes in several colors would look beautiful with just about any fabric, especially toile! Oh goodness I already see another project in my future.
If you would like try this on a table runner you have, this is all you need to do. Pick up a few yards of jute webbing. I ordered mine from onlinefabricstore.net for 65 cents a yard. Grab a pair of scissors and a glue gun and that’s it! This was so quick and easy to do. Start by measuring the length of the webbing and attach first and then follow by measuring the webbing for width to cover the ends. I doubled the width to wrap all the way around the ends and secured in the back of the runner with glue. I am not sure if the jute webbing can be washed, so I was not worried about using hot glue vs. fabric glue. My runner is simply decorative and if anything gets on it I am just planning to spot clean with some water.
Now that this project is complete, I guess it’s time to get to work on one that I have been putting off for a while. Wishing you a happy fabulous Fall! I am headed out today to finally pick up some mums and pumpkins for the porch. Love this time of year!
