At the end of every holiday season I carefully pack away all of the decorations and label each box so I will know exactly what will go where the following year. When the time arrives, after Thanksgiving, to unpack all of those boxes I give myself a little pat on the back remembering how I took the time to organize each one the year before and thanks to all of my thoughtful planning our home will instantly be filled with holiday cheer! So, what happens instead? I take one look at all of that organization and instantly turn it into a heap of Christmas decorating chaos. Decking out our home for the holidays would be so much faster and easier if only I could stick to my plan, but instead it takes me forever because I always end up moving things around from room to room. Well, it may have taken me a lot longer than planned, but I am excited to say that the holiday decorating at our house is now officially done!
To begin our holiday home tour I am going to start off with our back porch, the room that I finished last, but came together the quickest. Last year was the first time I had decorated our porch for the holidays and when I looked back I wanted to make it feel a little cozier this year. If you would like to see the porch last year you can click HERE.
Most of the decorations were used on the porch last year, I just moved things around a bit.
I also took a few things from other rooms, like this centerpiece which was in the dining room.
I do miss the tobacco basket that hung above the fireplace this time last year, but until it just gets too cold outside we are still enjoying the porch and watching lots of football so it’s ok.
I purchased this Santa year’s ago during a Target after Christmas clearance sale. He’s lost a few pieces since then, but he will always be a holiday favorite! The reindeer is another piece that was in the dining room last year.
The green velvet pillows that were once in the family room now have a new home on the porch.
This pillow was the only new purchase for the porch. I just love Cardinal’s, they are so beautiful and the state bird of North Carolina!
I would love to add some garland to the fireplace, but it just gets too hot that I would have to take it down every time we turned the fireplace on. So, instead I added the beads for an extra pop of color.
I found the plaid ribbon at Joann’s for 60% off . I love thrifty ways that help to tie a room together.
This is the view from our kitchen.
I do think the porch feels a little cozier this year, but there’s always next season to make a few more changes and additions.
Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed the first stop on our holiday home tour! I will be back again soon to share another room!
