Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the holiday season, spending time with family and friends, found some time to relax and that your 2016 is off to an amazing start! All was fairly quiet around here during our girls winter school break. Last year we spent a wonderful week in the mountains with my family to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and as much as we loved being all together during the holiday it was nice to wake up at home on Christmas morning this year. We spent the last few weeks enjoying family time, sleeping in and taking a break from busy schedules. I also finally had a chance to tackle a few long overdue painting and organizing projects in my daughter’s rooms.
After the girls returned to school I spent this past week catching up on things around the house, packing away the last of the holiday decorations and cleaning up lots of glitter and pine needles. I also finally had a chance to sit down at the computer to put together a list of the top ten most viewed posts of 2015, which I am super excited to share with you today! You can click on each title to see the full post.
Having the opportunity to work with Country Curtains was definitely a huge highlight for me this past year. In this post I only gave a peek of the most recent updates to the family room, but I will soon be sharing more once I update my home tour which is long overdue.
This was one of my favorite projects of the year because it was done on a very small budget and the new look now flows so much better with the rest of the house. The powder room still doesn’t feel quite complete so I am planning to add a few more accessories and also hoping to finally find the right size rug to place in front of the sink.
This is one spot in our home that I don’t think I will ever change as I really love the little touch of cottage charm it adds to our kitchen. The inside of the cabinet though is in desperate need of some organization. This is where we keep our craft paints and brushes and it is a total mess in there right now.
The family room saw a few changes this year and I have more planned in the year ahead. My plans include a fireplace makeover and adding either some wainscoting, wallpaper or stenciling to the wall behind the sofa. I would also love to add some wainscoting to the wall going up the staircase. I have been dreaming about these projects since we moved into our home almost 5 years ago and I am hoping this will finally be the year that I can make them happen.
One thing that quickly became clear as I was putting this list together is that you all really enjoy seeing the porch so I will be sharing more of it throughout the year, including a long overdue source list. For the summer I plan to add more blues and the bar area will be getting some much needed decorating attention.
I would also like to finally add some outdoor curtain panels to the wall of windows next to the dining table. Once the leaves all fall the sun shines a little too bright in our eyes when we sit on the sofa in the afternoon. The curtains would really help with this and would also make the porch feel a little more cozy.
As I was packing away the Christmas decorations I decided that I wanted to make some big changes to the holiday porch décor which I will be keeping under wraps until next December.
The foyer will stay pretty much the same this year, but I have been thinking of some simple ways to warm it up a bit which I will be sharing in the coming months.
Every time I look at this wall it just makes me so happy. I am in love with brown transferware so you will definitely see more being added to the room throughout the year.
This was the first time I had shared pictures of our kitchen since our porch addition. When I was looking back on my posts I realized I had never shown a full reveal of the new space with before and after photos. That is on the top of my list for sharing which I plan to do very soon!
So, I’m curious did your favorite make the list? I would also love to know what type of projects you would like to see more on the blog. Our home is still a work in progress, even after almost five years of living here, but another goal I have is to share more rooms around the house.
To start off the year I would like to begin by saying a great big THANK YOU to each and every one of you for all of your support and kindness. I know your days are busy, working and caring for your families, so when you stop by to visit, leave a comment or send an e-mail I just want you to know how very much I appreciate you, your time and your friendship. Wishing you all a wonderful 2016 and looking forward to sharing more budget friendly projects and home decorating ideas and inspiration with you here on the blog in the new year!
