Oh my, it sure has been a while! I can’t believe how quickly these many months since I last blogged have just flown on by! I never planned to stay away for so long, but it sure does feel good to be back in my little happy place here in the blogosphere and back to doing what I have truly missed and enjoy, sharing my love of home with you!
Life around here continues to be as stressful and busy as ever, especially for our girls who are in the midst of their senior year of high school and quickly approaching college application deadlines. This school year is already zipping by much too fast and I can’t believe we will soon be empty nesters. I may have already gone through a box of tissues or two just thinking about it. I have been trying my best to keep it together by making time for welcome distractions like working on projects around the house and a shopping trip every now and then. Having a paint brush in my hand or checking out a new to me consignment shop has definitely been great therapy…so far!
I wasn’t quite sure what to share first after being away for so long, so let’s start with my most recent decorating project and favorite place to spend time in the fall, our back porch.

Are you ready for the tour? Welcome and come on in!
When it comes to seasonal decorating I always struggle with whether I’ve added too much or not enough, so I always end up doing a lot of editing before feeling happy with a space. For me it’s not always 100% on the happiness scale, but I am learning that sometimes you just have to call it a day on the decorating and shift focus to relaxing and enjoying the changing seasons.
I kept the blue and orange pops of color again this year, just adding a few new things that I found on some of my shopping trips.
Here’s a close up of a table runner I found at Home Goods. I really like the softer tones of this one and the fabric feels like a cozy flannel shirt.
I changed the arrangement in the Pottery Barn basket a bit from last year and added a new faux orange pumpkin that was also a Home Goods find.
I purchased the Pottery Barn cheetah pillows a while back on clearance. I wasn’t sure where they would end up, but for now I am enjoying the warmth in color and texture they add to the sofa. The black ticking pillows are from the family room. Changes coming to that room soon!
Mini pumpkin basket and faux bittersweet found at Michael’s, sparkly pumpkin at Jo-Ann Fabric and the mini ceramic pumpkin is from a local shop.
View from the kitchen.
I love the string lights above the fireplace so much that I couldn’t bare to take them down or replace with something new. Instead I just added wood leaves and mini gingham ribbon that I found a Michael’s to create an inexpensive and simple fall garland.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of our back porch all decorated for fall! I have to admit I was feeling pretty rusty when I started this post, but it feels so good to be back to blogging! I am so excited about all of the shopping finds, decorating ideas and seasonal inspiration I have in store to share with you in the coming months! I hope you’ll come back for a visit, can’t wait to see you again soon!
